The realities of DU dating.

Dating in college. Often portrayed as exciting and full of possibilities in popular media. The reality for many students at the University of Denver is more complicated. Our interviews with DU students reveal a dating culture shaped by busy schedules and uncertainty about what people are truly looking for in relationships.

Sophomore Leo described the dating scene at DU as challenging. He said that many students appear isolated and reluctant to put themselves out there.

“I feel like everyone’s a little hidden and closed off.”

DU students carry their baggage across campus.

“Student Baggage” is a photo and audio slideshow about what college students carry with them every day, both physically and emotionally.

The project includes portraits of students with their bags, along with close-up photos of the things inside them. Some of the items are everyday objects like laptops, notebooks, chargers, water bottles, or snacks, while others are more personal and reveal something deeper about the student carrying them.

Day in the life of a student leader

This photo slideshow explores the life of a student leader on campus, Avery Wright. The photos take you through Avery’s day as she balances her intense STEM coursework with her role as President of Chi Omega Zeta Mu. The goal of this work is to demonstrate the extra work that these students embed in their day to support others.
