DU Dorm Life

Photos by: Ella Lannan

For my audio photo slideshow I want to convey how each room is different but still connected since we all live together. For the audio, I’m thinking of using a famous movie monologue in the background or a song that everyone in our dorm loves. If I have time I also want to add short clips of my roommates and I talking or hanging out to make it feel more personal.

Photo Gallery Rough Draft

For this assignment, I aimed to capture life as a student athlete at the University of Denver during the National Intercollegiate Final. As a figure skater representing DU, I experienced the highs and lows of competition. Whether it be having fun on the ice, stressing before I compete, or rushing to do school work, there are many aspects of life student athletes have to balance. Last weekend (April 10th-12th), I took photographs of my teammates, the competition, and my overall experience of the weekend. I captured these images on my Iphone and film camera with the hopes of expressing the value of collegiate sports.

Work Behind DU Hockey’s Championship Standard With Their Equipment Staff

My goal for this photo gallery was to highlight the behind-the-scenes work that goes with DU hockey, particularly the equipment staff, from leaving for the Frozen Four and putting patches and stickers on, to being there, winning the National Championship, and coming back to DU and the mess our room was. While most people only see the games, these images highlight the preparation, organization, and cleanup required, and the daily routines that happen off the ice. From the locker room to clean up and set up, to equipment details and the Frozen Four environment, every part plays a role. As ESPN said during the championship run, “the standard is the standard, and the standard is Denver,” and these photos show what that standard looks like every day.
