It’s that time of year. Time for the age-old question, “How cooked are you for finals?”
This TikTok is about the shared experience of finals week and the stress that comes with the end of the quarter. I wanted to capture how students in the Chi Omega house were feeling about their exams in a fun and lighthearted way. The idea came from a whiteboard poll in the house that asked a similar question, so I used that as the opening shot before introducing myself and the concept of the video.
To create the video, I interviewed several of my sisters and our chef, asking them, “How cooked are you for finals?” One of my favorite creative choices was using a Snoopy plush with a microphone attached to it as my interview mic. It made the interviews more entertaining and helped people relax while answering. I also chose to use “Ventura Highway” as the background music because it gave the video a calm and nostalgic feel that contrasted with the chaos of finals week.
During editing, I added text identifying each person interviewed and included a closing message wishing the members of Chi Omega good luck on their finals. I enjoyed putting the clips together and finding the right pacing to keep the video engaging. My favorite part of the final product is that it feels authentic to the Chi Omega community and captures a real moment in student life. The creative process was enjoyable because it allowed me to combine humor, interviewing, filming, and editing into a short video that reflects the spirit of finals week at DU.
Great job on this, Addi! I really enjoyed it. It’s very creative, fun, humorous and makes good use of editing techniques we honed in class. So glad you did it 🙂. You earn a 💯!
